An older man in a suit sitting in a car, angrily talking on a phone. A large red "no" symbol overlays the image. The text reads: 'How To Stop Car Warranty Robocalls For Good.' Sprout logo appears in the upper left corner.

Hi there! We’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty…

Cue the eye roll. Maybe you hang up. Perhaps you get a dozen more of the same message. Maybe they’re calling about a car you haven’t owned in years.

Either way, you’re over it, and so are we.

At Sprout Assure, you’re assured of two things: we don’t use robocalls—ever, and we actively work to unwind the damage done by companies that do.

To that effect, we’ve put together this handy guide that will help put a stop to those unwanted calls and give you a better, more human way to get the coverage you actually need.

Let’s start with what not to do when you get robocalls, then we’ll show you what actually works.

4 Things Not to Do About Car Warranty Robocalls

Don’t answer calls from unfamiliar numbers

Answering can signal to robocallers that your number is active, which increases how often they’ll target you. If you suspect the call is spam or your phone tells you the caller is likely Spam, send it to voicemail. If you’re wrong, you can always call back. Many carriers have an option to send unknown numbers directly to voicemail.

Don’t press “1” to unsubscribe

This is tempting, we know. But pressing any buttons confirms your number is live. This often leads to more calls as they try to get you to answer, not fewer. To them, it’s a numbers game.

Don’t give personal info

Even if the call sounds legit (let’s face it, robocalls are getting more sophisticated and trickier as they advance past common objections or red flags; they may even spoof dealership names or reference your actual car model), never share:

  • Your VIN
  • Your address
  • Insurance policy number
  • Credit card info

Don’t assume it’s your dealership

Some of these calls use vague phrasing, such as “Vehicle Protection Department,” to sound official. Legitimate providers don’t cold-call you 10 times a day. If you think it really might be your dealership, don’t be afraid to hang up and call the dealership directly to confirm whether this is legitimate or not.

What To Do Instead

Now that you know what not to do with robocallers, what can you do to guard against these annoying calls instead? Here are four things to help shut them down for good.

Block and report

Use your phone’s settings or carrier tools to block specific numbers. When you do this, calls from those numbers won’t even come through.

Also report spam calls to:

Register for the National Do Not Call List

Visit www.donotcall.gov to register your number. While it won’t block scammers entirely, it makes legitimate companies legally required to stop calling.

Use spam filter apps

There are apps you can install on your phone that can help eliminate car warranty robocalls (and other annoying spam calls). Some of our favorites are:

  • Hiya
  • RoboKiller
  • Nomorobo

They will automatically screen and block high-volume robocalls, so your phone won’t even ring.

Know the signs of a scam

If a robocall does manage to get through, or you’re up against a high-pressure pitch, or a demand for immediate payment, it’s not a legit warranty provider. Trust your instincts.

Bonus Tip: Be Skeptical of “Too Good to Be True” Offers

As we mentioned earlier, robocallers are becoming increasingly sophisticated and will often say things that aren’t entirely true, simply to capture your attention and keep you on the line.

Some will claim to offer:

  • “Lifetime” coverage.
  • Repairs with no paperwork, no restrictions, and no cost.
  • Instant activation with no inspection.

Real coverage isn’t that simple, and real companies won’t flood your phone with those kinds of offers.

So… Who Can You Trust?

All this is enough to make you never answer your phone again, right?

This is where Sprout Assure sets itself apart.

We don’t use robocalls.

We don’t buy shady lead lists.

And we’ll never spam your inbox or phone with pressure tactics.

Instead, we built our Auto Club Membership and Mechanical Breakdown Coverage around respect, transparency, and control.

Here’s what that means for you:

  • Explore coverage on your own time.
  • Our Support Team is available when you ask, not when it’s convenient for us.
  • Clear and honest pricing.
  • Two plan options (no deductible or a low deductible) so you can choose what fits your needs.
  • You can use any licensed mechanic; no repair shop restrictions.
  • We’ll never bug you with endless sales calls.
